The conversations worth having before the vows

Questions to Ask Before Marriage

Love is the reason you get married, but daily life runs on a hundred practical agreements: how you spend money, how often you see family, how you handle a bad day. Talking about these before the wedding does not kill the romance. It protects it, because fewer surprises means fewer resentments later.

Take these questions slowly, maybe one topic per evening. You do not need to agree on everything. What matters is knowing where each of you stands and deciding together how to handle the differences.

Frequently asked questions

When should couples ask questions before marriage?

Ideally before you get engaged or early in the engagement, when there is still time to talk things through without wedding stress.

What are the most important topics to discuss before marriage?

Money, children, where to live, career plans, family boundaries and how you handle conflict are the topics couples most often wish they had discussed earlier.

What if we disagree on a big question?

Disagreement is normal. Try to understand the reason behind each view, look for a middle ground, and give the topic more than one conversation.

Is there an app to help engaged couples talk?

Loveto has question packs about the future, family and money that you answer separately, then reveal together.
